Nanjing, China (June 6, 2011) — Celebrated by friends, family, and faculty, 132 students graduated at NYIT’s first annual undergraduate graduation ceremony in Nanjing on June 5.
Hundreds of guests, including Yang Zhen, president of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NUPT), and U.S. Consul General in Shanghai Beatrice Camp, gathered at Nanjing’s InterContinental Hotel to honor the accomplishments of the Class of 2011.
“With your expanding international engagement and growing motivation to contribute to the global knowledge economy, you —our Chinese students— are the talent the world is seeking,” NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., told the graduates in his Salute to the Class of 2011.
Student speaker Dai Yisi, an international business administration major, was chosen to address her classmates because of her high academic achievement and her involvement in campus life. “We have succeeded in assimilating the essence of both Chinese and American culture,” she said. “We have learned how to live independently, think analytically, work as a team, and foster the problem-solving spirit in our daily life.”
Since 2007, NYIT has been offering degree programs in Nanjing, China. NYIT-NUPT’s undergraduate programs lead to degrees in communication arts, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, and business administration in international business.
