NYIT 5K Run/Health Fair to be held April 18

Old Westbury, N.Y. (March 17, 2009)- New York Institute of Technology's (NYIT) School of Health Professions, Behavioral, and Life Sciences will host its annual Health Fair, including a 5K run and a half-mile kids' fun run, on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the Old Westbury campus. All members of the community are invited to attend.

The event kicks off with the half-mile kid's fun run at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K run at 9 a.m. The Health Fair begins at 10 a.m., and will include free screenings for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, and hearing, as well as preventative health education. Nutrition counselors will be on hand to help attendees learn how to avoid unhealthy foods and find positive ingredients. In addition, a blood drive will be held to help depleted Long Island blood banks.
