NYIT-Bahrain Celebrates Class of 2011

Manama, Bahrain (June 8, 2011) — Friends, family, and faculty reveled in the accomplishments of 275 students at New York Institute of Technology’s seventh annual graduation ceremony in Bahrain on June 7.

Guests gathered at the Gulf Hotel to celebrate the Class of 2011.

“No matter how we define the ‘hot job’ of the year, in an information-rich, digitally-saturated society, there will be a premium on people who have the training and the ability to synthesize information from many sources,” NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., told the graduates in his Salute to the Class of 2011. “And after studying at NYIT, those skills are second nature to you.”

NYIT Board of Trustees Chair Linda Davila and NYIT College of Arts and Sciences Dean Roger Yu also traveled from New York to participate in the ceremony and congratulate the graduates.

Two student speakers were selected to address the graduates at this year’s ceremony. Undergraduate speaker Fatima Al Shuwaikh paid tribute to those who helped the graduates accomplish their goals, thanking those “who have done everything they could to enhance learning and teaching, and to facilitate the best educational environment so we can reach the highest academic level.”

“I wish to thank all the students for making this experience an unforgettable memory,” added graduate speaker Talal Al Qassab.

Since 2003, NYIT has been offering degree programs in Adliya, the Kingdom of Bahrain. NYIT-Bahrain’s programs lead to degrees in Computer Graphics, Interior Design, Computer Science, Information Technology and Computer Security, and Business Administration.
