Longest-Running NYIT Program in China Welcomes 12th Cohort

Longest Running NYIT Program in China Welcomes 12th Cohort

Nanchang, China (Dec. 03, 2011)—New York Institute of Technology’s oldest academic program in China welcomed 120 new students to its 12th cohort at partner institution Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) today.

Hosted by Zhou Mei, dean of the JUFE MBA school, the 2011 opening ceremony for the  NYIT-JUFE MBA program featured remarks by JUFE Vice President Lu Fucai, Associate Dean of NYIT Global Programs and Executive Director of the Center for International Business Studies Scott Liu, Ph.D., and NYIT Chief of Staff Peter Kinney.

"The support our joint program receives from JUFE and its outstanding faculty has been instrumental over the years in building an executive M.B.A program that we can all be proud of,” Kinney said in his welcome address, thanking NYIT’s partners for a harmonious working relationship.

“It’s one of our most successful programs in China,” added Tony Lei Tong (M.S. ’09), NYIT associate director of alumni and employer relations.

Classes at the NYIT-JUFE M.B.A. program are offered in Nanchang, Shenzhen, and Shanghai, and attract entrepreneurs, business executives, and government officials. NYIT faculty members from New York are responsible for teaching 75 percent of the coursework. Since its inception, the program has aspired to become one of the best foreign degree programs in China.

“The ideas of profit and loss, business risk and risk-return, investment strategies, currency conversions, the time-value of money, etc., must be equally understood by all parties in the transaction, whether they be American, Chinese, Brazilian, Indian, or Emirati,” Kinney said. “As our world becomes increasingly interdependent, as business becomes more ‘global,’ the ties that will bind humanity together for the common good will be the ties of commercial relationships built through the ‘language’ of business."
