Legendary Futurist Marc Gobé Shares Insights on “Emotional Branding”

New York, N.Y. (Sept. 28, 2010) – New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) will host a lecture by world-renowned futurist, author, and designer Mark Gobé entitled “We Are Not Living in a Fish Bowl Anymore: Emotional Branding in the Age of Social Media.” Students, faculty/staff, and members of the community are invited to attend on Oct. 7, 2010, at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway.

Inspired by his world travels in the past three years, Gobé, president of Emotional Branding LLC, will share insights about how brands are affecting cities and countries around the world; the impact of marketing and design on individuals; the interactive relationship between science and design; and other forward-thinking topics.

As the former co-founder and co-president of marketing/brand image firm Desgrippes Gobé Group, Gobé pioneered the idea of combining brand strategy, human factor research, product design, graphic design, and architecture to engage consumers emotionally. He is a popular speaker and has written three books: Emotional Branding, Citizen Brands: A Treatise on Corporate Responsibility, and Brandjam: Humanizing Brands Through Emotional Design. His books focus on consumers as the ultimate power in branding strategies and the role of design and creative collaboration in building successful brands.

The free presentation is coordinated by NYIT’s School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, School of Management, School of Architecture and Design, and College of Arts and Sciences. It will be held from 12:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. (free hour) at the Auditorium on Broadway, located at 1871 Broadway, between West 61st and 62nd Streets. Complimentary lunch will be served.

To reserve seats, contact events@nyit.edu or 516.686.1177. For more information, visit http://www.nyit.edu/conferences/marc_gobe. For a preview, visit Gobé’s presentation on You Tube.
