July 2008 Lunch Specials and Events at NYIT's de Seversky Center

Old Westbury, N.Y. (June 18, 2008) - New York Institute of Technology's (NYIT) de Seversky Center will offer a variety of new lunch specials and culinary events in July. From Wednesday through Friday, lunch will be served in the newly refurbished dining room or on the patio. Menus feature heart-healthy, reduced fat, and low-sodium selections. Frequent guests can earn a free lunch after just five visits.

Prices do not include beverages, tax, and gratuities. Lunch reservations are required and are taken for seatings from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. For full menus, reservations, or a list of upcoming events, please call 516.686.7675.

Mansion Tours
Mansion tours for groups of eight or more are offered before lunch on select days throughout the summer. Tour guides will take guests from room to room while explaining the rich and interesting history of the historic de Seversky mansion and its original owners. Tours are $9 per guest (in addition to lunch).

Wednesdays
Three-course lunch: $16 per person
The new lunch menu features a delicious selection of appetizers, entrees, and desserts and includes coffee and tea service. Daily specials enhance menu selections.

Thursdays and Fridays
Buffet Lunch: $16 per person
Known as one of the best culinary experiences on Long Island, de Seversky's lunch buffet is back-and better than ever. Summer offerings include a cold appetizer buffet with a large selection of refreshing summer salads, grilled or roasted vegetables, and an all-you-can-eat shrimp cocktail. In addition, enjoy:

Chef's special action stations: Each week, our chef offers two made-to-order stations. Enjoy Asian dim sum, Tuscan risotto, South of the Border quesadillas, or tempura-just some of the creative stations that will be featured throughout the summer.

Hot chafing selections: Heart-healthy choices include saffron poached chicken, herb-crusted baked halibut, and Asian-style roast pork.

Dessert display: Our pastry chef will present cakes, pastries, and other goodies that are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. Fresh fruits and berries as well as coffee and tea service are included.

 

JULY CULINARY EVENTS

Thursday, July 10 at 7 p.m.
The Cabaret Club at de Seversky Presents Kate Beckman

This NEW cabaret performance features vocalist Kate Beckman and New York City's brightest cabaret artists, with musical direction by Eric Baum. Dinner is a delicious selection of appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
$49 per person; tax, service, and beverages additional.
Reservations required. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, July 16 at noon
Chef's Demonstration Luncheon: "The Summer BBQ - No Hot Dogs, Please"

See how culinary magic is made. Our executive chef will create a menu and demonstrate how you can prepare it at home. Not only will you enjoy a wonderful lunch, including dry rubbed, baby back ribs and jumbo shrimp kabobs, but you will also learn the chef's secrets on throwing a great backyard barbecue. Specialty drink presentation: Mojito.
$25 per person; tax, service, and beverages additional. Reservations required.

Friday, July 18
New England Lobster and Clam Bake

A bit of Maine comes to de Seversky during our mid-summer tradition. Dine outside on the patio (weather permitting) or in our newly appointed dining room. This year's buffet will include whole steamed Maine lobster, clams, mussels, corn on the cob, new potatoes, and other hot chafing selections from land and sea. Our cold display features fresh shucked clams and oysters, shrimp cocktail, and a selection of salads. Enjoy live entertainment while you dine!
$59 per person; tax, service, and beverages additional.
Reservations taken for seatings between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, July 20
Jazz Brunch Featuring Al Cardillo and Friends

Relax and groove to live jazz at our fabulous Sunday buffet brunch. This tantalizing meal includes fresh baked croissants, muffins, bagels and breakfast breads, delicious hot and cold selections, an omelet station, a carving station, a dessert station, and coffee service.
$29 per person; tax, service, and beverages additional.
Reservations taken for seatings between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Thursday, July 24
Surf and Turf Buffet Dinner

Get the best of both worlds and enjoy delicacies from land and sea. Selections include Caribbean shrimp, Texas ribs, Maryland crab, Montana steaks, a raw bar, a variety of cold salads, and a dessert station.
$55 per person; tax, service, and beverages additional.
Reservations required, and will be taken for seatings between 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Friday, July 25 at 7 p.m.
Dark Dining Wine Dinner - "A Sensory Feast for Blindfolded Guests"

Arriving to a warm welcome and a few words of orientation, diners will don blindfolds and be guided to their tables. There they are served a luxurious four-course gourmet meal paired with fine wines. Savoring sensuous flavors, smells, and textures, guests are challenged to enjoy the mysteries of the menu. Between courses, live artistic performances will capture the senses.
