NYIT-Amman Student Marketing Team Concludes Road Safety Campaign at Cambridge Schools

Amman, Jordan.(Jan. 4, 2010) -- New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in Amman has just concluded a traffic awareness campaign for students at Cambridge International Schools. Over a four-day period, professional drivers and specialists shared with the students a variety of information regarding traffic safety. The first two days were devoted to discussing major issues regarding traffic and pedestrian safety, as well as precautionary procedures bicyclists should follow to ensure their safety.  On the third day, subjects revolved around precautionary procedures that motorcyclists should follow. The university hosted the Valero Motorcycle Riders team, who offered a realistic presentation outlining the truths about rational driving.

In the fourth and final day, Jordan Rally Champion Amjad Farrah brought his own rally car to the event to introduce students to its components. He also emphasized the difference between race cars speeding at a race track and on regular roads, as well as misuse and dangerous speeding practices on public streets.

The Mayor of Amman’s representative, Essam Shahzadah, praised the initiative and expressed his satisfaction with NYIT’s attempts to raise traffic awareness levels. He also handed prizes to participants.

The NYIT organizing party stated that the Hikmat Road Safety initiative has decided to adopt NYIT’s awareness program and include it in the Framework of the National Safety Development Strategy, related to traffic safety.

This event is the second of its kind at NYIT-Amman. NYIT organized a previous campaign for a full year, targeting universities’ students between 18 and 25 years old. The university held car exhibitions in all regions of the Kingdom, and distributed brochures on correct and incorrect road safety practices.
