Executive Chef Robert Rizzuto Returns to NYIT’s de Seversky Center

Old Westbury, N.Y. (April 17, 2009)- New York Institute of Technology’s (NYIT) de Seversky Center announces that NYIT’s director of dining services, Robert Rizzuto, has returned to his role as executive chef. Joining chef Rizzuto and general manager Anthony Baffo to de Seversky Center’s staff is catering sales manager Eric Redlich, who has served as catering manager of Cradle of Aviation in Garden City, N.Y., general manager of the Bridge Hampton Tennis and Surf Club, and executive director of Andrews Catering in Islandia, N.Y

Rizzuto’s career at NYIT spans more than 30 years, during which time he also served as general manager of de Seversky Center. He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and has studied in the kitchens of top chefs such as Daniel Boulud, Christian Delouvrier, and Alain Ducasse. He has worked for major hotels, top restaurants, and educational institutions throughout the eastern United States. In addition, Rizzuto is certified by the American Culinary Federation as both a Certified Executive Chef and a Certified Culinary Educator; he and his staff are honorees of the James Beard Society; he was one of 10 candidates chosen to be interviewed for the position of sous chef at the White House under George H.W. Bush; and he is a popular contributor to a variety of local and regional media.

With this new management structure, NYIT’s de Seversky Center now has special menus, monthly tastings, and packages to suit every dining and budgetary need. Executive chef Rizzuto is also available to sit down with clients and the media to create tailored menus, offering a variety of his custom-designed cooking stations, and award-winning specialties.

About NYIT’s de Seversky Center
NYIT’s de Seversky Center is a premier conference and dining facility and a popular setting for weddings, business meetings, and other celebratory occasions. The center is named for well-known Russian aviator Alexander P. de Seversky, who played a key role in NYIT’s acquisition of the estate in 1972.

An award-winning executive chef, impeccable service, and an elegant historic setting are just a few reasons that de Seversky has become a favorite North Shore destination. The center is located on NYIT’s Old Westbury, N.Y., campus on Northern Boulevard, just east of Glen Cove Road. For a list of upcoming events, to schedule an appointment for a tour of the mansion, or to speak with a catering manager, please call 516.686.7675.
