NYIT-Amman and JUST Host ICICS International Technology Conference

Amman, Jordan. (Dec 20, 2009 )-- New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), in cooperation with Jordan University for Science and Technology (JUST), brought the global IT community to Jordan when the two universities organized and hosted the International Conference on Information and Communication Systems (ICICS) on Dec. 20-22, 2009.

ICICS is a forum for scientists, engineers. and IT experts to present the findings of their latest research, ideas, developments and applications in all areas of computer and information sciences. More than 200 speakers, presenters, researchers, and attendees from more than 28 countries comprised academics, experts, and leaders in higher education, who explored issues including artificial intelligence, Web content mining and e-learning to information security, the mobile revolution, cryptography, and uman-computer interaction.

NYIT President Edward Guiliano praised the success of the conference. “As globally recognized institutes of higher education, NYIT and its partner, JUST, proudly support research and collaboration on cutting-edge technologies,” he said. “It is our hope and goal to improve people's lives wherever they may be. We know the forces of science, technology, and democratization of education are leveling the barriers that separate nations, peoples, and economies, and in turn, solving the collective challenges we face in the 21st century.”

Keynote speakers included Cetin Kaya Koc, professor of computer science at Istanbul Sehir University in Turkey and co-founder of the Workshop on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems (; Gregor Bochmann, professor of IT and engineering at the University of Ottawa, and Belgacem Haba, chief technology officer for Interconnects, Components and Materials, a division of Tessara Technologies, Inc., based in Silicon Valley.

“NYIT’s School of Engineering and Computing Sciences takes pride in being represented at this important conference where security and communication systems, advances in computer networks and transmission, cryptography, miniaturization and complexities of hand-held electronic products, will be discussed,” said Nada Anid, Ph.D., dean of NYIT’s School of Engineering and Computing Sciences. “NYIT and JUST put together a first-class conference on the latest technologies in information and communication systems.”
