Award-Winning Animator and Cartoonist to Lead Master Class

Old Westbury, N.Y. (May 30, 2011) –
NYIT welcomes multiple Academy Award-nominated animator and cartoonist to teach a master class on Friday, June 3, at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion.

Bill Plympton will discuss his career as an animator for independent films and show some of his classic shorts and music videos, including clips from his new feature, "Idiots and Angels." He will also give a drawing demonstration and talk about how filmmakers can make a living creating short films.

Plympton's infamously distinctive and recognizable illustrations have appeared in the New York Times, Vogue, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, and National Lampoon. He won the Grand Prize for Short Films at Cannes, a lifetime achievement award at SITGES, the Winsor McCay Award at the
Annie Awards, Cartoonist of the Year at the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art. He remains a vital and original force in the illustration and animation field.

The class will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon, followed by a light lunch, and is free for the NYIT community. To attend, visit the NYIT calendar
