Architecture and Engineering Programs Receive Reaccreditation

Old Westbury, N.Y. (August 24, 2011) ─ Two NYIT programs – in architecture and engineering – have received reaccreditation from their respective accrediting bodies.

ABET, Inc., the accrediting body for engineering and technology issued reaccreditation for NYIT’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, B.T.   The National Architectural Accrediting Board issued reaccreditation to NYIT’s Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) program.  Both terms extend to 2017.

Architecture was praised for its commitment to student design and curriculum relevant to industry.  Meanwhile, the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology program is constantly innovating, and will soon become a B.S. program.

Nada Anid, Ph.D., dean of the School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, says the school is also planning on introducing new concentrations in power engineering and telecommunications technology.
