Old Westbury, N.Y. (November 4, 2011) – As a child, Nada Marie Anid, Ph.D., wanted to be a poet.
In an article in Long Island Business News, the dean of NYIT’s School of Engineering and Computing Sciences described her penchant for reciting poetry in classrooms.
She joined a group of Long Island’s best-known leaders who shared their childhood dreams, including Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice, former N.Y. Islanders great Bob Nystrom, and Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy.
Influenced by a chemistry-loving family, Anid earned a doctorate in environmental engineering.
Although she did not pursue a writing career, she says she still finds poetry in her everyday life.
“Engineering,” she said, “is imagination at work.”
