NYIT Captures Gold and Silver CASE Awards

Old Westbury, N.Y.  (Feb 17, 2010)- New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) was honored by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) with two awards for excellence in planning and executing its April 12, 2009, alumni reception in China: the CASE District II Gold Award for “Best Practices in Alumni Relations” and the Silver Award in the “Special Events” category.

NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., Director of Alumni Relations Joe Fortine, and Professor Scott Liu were among those who joined members of the NYIT Guangdong alumni chapter last April in Shenzhen, China. The reception, which included speeches, video presentations, alumni awards, performances by the East Lily Troup, and a traditional Sichuan opera, was held in conjunction with other celebrations commemorating NYIT’s legacy of bringing American education to China.

“I am delighted that we received two CASE awards and am very appreciative of all the people at NYIT whose good efforts made this recognition possible. It’s gratifying to be acknowledged by our peers in the field,” said Cynthia Gorman, NYIT Vice President for Development.

CASE’s district awards honor outstanding university programs and individuals, including annual reports, Web sites, distinguished service, and other categories.
