As an audiologist who has worked in the field of cochlear implantation since the late 70’s, Chute has published three books and more than 40 articles addressing both audiological issues as well as speech, language and educational issues. She has worked closely with parents and other professionals nationally and internationally and has conducted workshops around the world.
Chute is the former dean of the School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy College and former director of the Cochlear Implant Center at the Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital. She holds an Ed.D. in audiology from Teachers College at Columbia University and a master's degree in speech pathology and audiology and a bachelor's degree in communication disorders from CUNY Hunter College. She has also served on the faculty at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, University of Florida, Iona College, and Lehman College.
