NYIT Alert: H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu)
NOTE: All members of the NYIT community who contract the flu or exhibit a flu-like illness MUST report this information via e-mail to flu@nyit.edu (please include your name, school or department, and NYIT ID number, and indicate if you are a student, staff, or faculty member). NYIT will use this information to monitor the spread of H1N1 and report to the appropriate health authorities.

NYIT is carefully monitoring information about the H1N1 flu (swine flu) as it pertains to our community members worldwide, and is preparing for the fall flu season. Each of our campuses is operating under normal conditions, and all events are being held as scheduled. All NYIT students, faculty, and staff should follow these precautions to minimize their exposure and to prevent the spread of any illness:
- Wash hands thoroughly and often with soap and water (or alcohol-based hand cleanser), and especially after being out in public.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your arm - not your hand.
- Keep hands away for your face, and avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
- Clean shared space often - including phones, keyboards, steering wheels, and office equipment.
- Stay away from obviously sick people.
- Stay home from school or work if you are sick.
