Counseling and Wellness Services

Free and Confidential Online Screenings
This screening is provided so that you may find out, in a few minutes, whether or not professional consultation would be helpful to you.

Counseling and Wellness Services at NYIT coordinates student mental health, disability, immunization, and health insurance services. Our staff is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both the Old Westbury and Manhattan campuses with information about specific services and programs.

NYIT’s Counseling Services offers short-term counseling to NYIT students who may be experiencing personal, social, or academic concerns. Licensed professional counselors assist students in developing greater self-understanding as well as strategies for effective problem solving to enhance personal development and academic success. These centers provide a holistic approach to wellness education, promoting individual and comunity wellness through programs and outreach activities. We offer workshops, lectures, and student leadership training throughout the semester.

The Office of Wellness Services oversees immunization compliance and maintains all of the school’s immunization records. We provide assistance with and information about the student accident and health insurance plans and serve as a liaison with NYIT’s College of Osteopathic Medicine’s health centers and community health services.

The Office of Disability Services actively supports students in the pursuit of their academic and career goals. All NYIT services pertaining to students with disabilities are coordinated by this office and are meant to foster a barrier-free academic environment. NYIT adheres to the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 504. In addition to monitoring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable laws.
