Program Overview

The Summer M.B.A program at NYIT's Manhattan campus — steps away from Columbus Circle, Times Square, Central Park, and all that the city has to offer — is designed for international graduate students who want to gain in-depth knowledge of New York City as a global financial capital. And, while they are experiencing a vibrant summer in New York City, participants can earn three or six credits toward their M.B.A. degree. Students will combine classroom learning with study tours relevant to their courses. Among the sites students may visit:

  • Bloomberg Corporation – a tour of the facilities and an introduction to the use of the Bloomberg terminals provides first-hand experience utilizing the fastest-growing real-time financial information network in the world.
  • Broadridge Financial Solutions – a visit to the company headquarters and tour of the production floor of this company that provides brokerage processing services provides a qualitative approach to Operations Management.
  • The Conference Board – participate in an educational seminar by an economist at this leading non-profit that creates and disseminates knowledge about management and the marketplace to help businesses strengthen their performance and better serve society.
  • Federal Reserve Bank – get a glimpse of the world's largest accumulation of gold and learn firsthand about the United States’ central banking system.
  • Thomas Edison National Historic Park – visit the site of the world’s first industrial research lab.

In addition, program highlights for all participants include:

  • a tour of the United Nations,
  • a visit to Wall Street and NYC's Financial District,
  • a tour of the Museum of American Finance,
  • a Double Decker bus tour around NYC,
  • a visit to the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island,
  • Broadway theater, and more!

Students also choose one or both of the following courses:

MGMT 601:  The Environment of Business Enterprise  -  3 creditsThis course discusses management problems arising from current domestic social changes and the relationship between business enterprise and society, particularly as reflected in the growth of consumerism and increased government involvement. Study tours will include visits to Broadridge Financial Solutions and Bloomberg, where tours and presentations by company management will offer students an insider’s perspective on the complex yet interdependent relationship between business, politics and culture in difficult times.

INTL 705: International Economic Concepts and Policies - 3 credits (with Dr. Chandrasekar)
This course provides a comprehensive conceptual framework for international commerce. International agreements that spur or deter investment and trade are discussed. Policies influencing flows of goods, services and investments are evaluated. The international monetary system and its foreign exchange markets are studied in the context of alternative international adjustment mechanisms. Balance of payments concepts, structure and approaches to its determination, are examined. This course is designed to offer a logical framework and a set of operationally useful concepts for a variety of audiences. Private sector business decision makers and governmental policy makers are the primary intended audiences. Apart from career interest, the course meets the needs of individuals who wish to understand and be conversant with international events.
