Gifts of Marketable Securities
Gifts of securities such as stocks, mutual fund shares, or other appreciated assets can be a great tax-efficient method for making a gift to NYIT. In most instances, you can receive an income tax deduction equal to the full market value of the securities on the date of the gift.
Gifts Through Estate Planning
Through careful planning, you can protect your estate, establish a legacy, and support NYIT and its students. Depending on the type of gift you choose, you may be able to enjoy current and future tax benefits, provide a lifetime of income for yourself, or ensure the financial well-being of your beneficiaries. Types of estate gifts include:
- Bequests: a gift made to NYIT in a donor's will
- Life Insurance/Retirement Plans: by naming NYIT as beneficiary you may receive significant tax benefits
- Life Income Gifts: these gifts provide ongoing payments to you or NYIT while offering generous tax benefits
Gifts of Tangible Personal Property
These donations are not monetary and may consist of equipment, artwork, items for auctions such as tickets to sporting events, specialty materials for projects, and furniture. Such gifts will be accepted if deemed of scholarly interest and/or of use to the college. Please note that NYIT cannot appraise or assign value to gifts of tangible property.
