Essay
My candidate is Cristy Villongco, my mother. She is a strong happily married independent woman. She is a full-time floor manager and a registered nurse at Gurwin Jewish Geriatric center. She also does home care with Brook haven Hospital part-time. My mother is a proud parent of 3 wonderful healthy, happy children. Myself, obviously being one of them. Wealthy and successful enough she is able to provide for our family along with my father who provides us with a great tuition fee education.
Since she came from the Philippines 3 or 4 years before i was born, she had battled many struggles trying to raise me and my 2 siblings after my father got laid off during the last recession. My mother was able to put us through private school until she was able to buy our first house 1996. Still going through college for her nursing degree, she finally graduated with her bachelors in nursing and perused her career forward. She continued her schooling and got her master and became who she is today.
Years latter we are still in the same loving home. We go on Family vacations every year were we can enjoy ourselves and each others company for 2 weeks to just be together. She empowers us all to pursue our goals to be the best that we can be. She motivates us by example through her hard work and skills in the medical field. Though not just that, but to be a leader no matter how much your forced struggle. Her social wellbeing is pure and reflects in her everyday ways of wellbeing. Seeing her interactions with her elderly patients at work, i know they are proud and feel safe that my mother is the one looking out for them. This is for sure. Why? Because i know her patient’s, friends, family and co-workers will attest.
