The NYIT Center for Gerontology and Geriatrics presented a Geroposium on mental health and aging on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Rockefeller Academic Center (NYCOM I) Auditorium on the Old Westbury campus.
This Geroposium focused on an important part of the problem of assuring better access to geriatric mental health services, namely the problematic link between the medical care and mental health systems, including primary health care. The program provided an overview of the mental health needs of older adults and the special role of primary health care, and also described a fascinating service designed to integrate mental health services into medical settings serving the elderly, including how it works for patients and doctors alike.
There was no charge for this conference and a light breakfast was served.
