Essay

The person I am nominating for the Vitality in Aging Contest is my grandfather, Geroge Rottkamp.  At the young age of 84, he is extremely active and always around to help his kids, grandkids, and even great-grandkids out.  When you need something fixed, he's the man to call.  He's a hard worker, since the age of 8 or 9, he worked on his parents farm until he left for the army.  After the army he worked for the union in sheet metal until he retired. He was a loving husband to his wife Ann (now deceased) and caring father to his four children.

He is a wonderful grandfather and great-grandfather, always taking time out to play with the little ones or make a baseball, football, or soccer game.  They call him Papa Bud (Bud is what my grandmother always called him)!  For fun George likes to take bus rides to Atlantic City, golf, and bowl.  He has also been a volunteer fireman for over 50 years and still makes a few call here and there and is also very involved in our town church, serving at weekly masses.

If you know or have met George Rottkamp, consider yourself very lucky.  He is a wonderful, kind, loving human being and I love him to pieces.
