Areas of Scholarly and Artistic Interest

Professor Valeo is a Freelance sports photographer and Contributing Photographer to: Newsday, Smithtown News, Northport Observer, Huntington News and shoots professional sports for the New York Sports Scene Magazine.

Professor Valeo is currently preparing a digital imaging program for Fall of 2004 and Spring of 2005 at New York Institute of Technology with an emphasis on digital photography.Biography: Professor Valeo served two years in the United States Army in 1965-67, saw active duty in Vietnam and received two purple hearts and a bronze star for his service as a combat rifle infantryman.

After the military he pursued his education and photographic endeavors. He worked independently for 12 years in his studio and on location. In 1999 and 2000 he was given the Photographer of the Year Award by the Photo Society of America. Professor Valeo received a perfect score in competition at the Photographic Federation of Long Island (PFLI) in 1998 (only three such scores have been recorded in 20 years). In 1999 Professor Valeo was distinguished by the PFLI as a Master Photographer. Currently he is a free-lance photographer and is pursuing pro-sports photography. He teaches courses in Basic and Advanced photography at New York Institute of Technology and is a faculty member at BOCES Nassau Center for Performing Arts.
