The Fine Arts facilities are comprised of several dedicated studios, state-of-the-art integrated graphics computer labs, black and white photography studios and labs, lecture halls, exhibition galleries, faculty offices and other facilities. On the Old Westbury campus these facilities are primarily located at the Midge Karr Fine Arts and Design Center and in the separate 4,000 square foot Sculpture Studio building. The Midge Karr Fine Arts and Design Center features an architecturally distinguished, recently renovated building from 1899 that houses computer labs, a 24 Vicon camera Motion Capture Laboratory, a rapid prototyping lab, a large gallery and faculty offices; a modern addition accommodates studios, a fifty-seat lecture hall and a large exhibition space. The new Manhattan facilities are located on the 9th floor of 16 West 61st Street and feature computer labs with the latest equipment, beautifully lit art studios, exhibition spaces and faculty offices.

The Hive fosters partnerships between students and community organizations in areas of art, design, technology, and entrepreneurship.  This technological studio environment brings together a diverse range of participants whose creativity, intelligence, and expertise together yield idea exchange, experimentation, and play.  In this unique research-studio environment, collaborative teams can invent, innovate, and creatively solve problems utilizing advanced technologies of motion capture, gaming, 3D printing, and emerging technologies. Fine Arts students and faculty, various NYIT disciplines, and community professionals benefit in the form of dedicated courses and workshops; presentations; collaborative projects; and summer/intersession programs.
