NYIT Scholarships

NYIT offers $35 million in academic scholarships and grants based on academic achievement and potential each year. Scholarships and grants can be used only for tuition, are divided equally between the fall and spring semesters, and are not applicable to the summer session .

A student is not permitted to have more than one NYIT scholarship (the one with the highest dollar value is the one that will be awarded).

To be eligible for an NYIT scholarship, you must:

  • file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year you're enrolled at NYIT
  • be a full-time student
  • maintain a minimum cumulative GPA (CGPA) as specified by the scholarship
  • meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements at all times

Through the generosity of trustees, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends, NYIT provides academic scholarships and grants on the basis of academic achievement or high scholastic potential. Scholarships and grants are for tuition only, divided equally between the fall and spring semesters. They are not applicable to summer session attendance. President's Scholarship

Entering freshman may qualify for this scholarship if they have a high school average of 90 or higher and scored a 1300 on the SAT I or at least 29 on the ACT. All students who qualify are eligible to receive this scholarship for a maximum of four years (or eight semesters) of continuous full-time undergraduate enrollment at NYIT.

All scholarships and grants are renewable each semester. Students must satisfactorily complete 12 credits each semester with no failing or incomplete grades. A student must also maintain the minimum CGPA as required each semester by the scholarship and/or grant as per your catalog upon admission into NYIT. NYIT scholarships and grants are for tuition only, divided equally between fall and spring semesters. They are not applicable to summer session attendance.

Amount of annual award: $16,000

Theodore K. Steele Memorial Scholarship Program

Entering freshman may qualify for this scholarship if they have a high school average of 85 and scored an 1110 on the SAT I or at least 24 on the ACT.

All students who qualify are eligible to receive this scholarship for a maximum of four years (eight semesters) of continuous full-time undergraduate enrollment at NYIT. All scholarships and grants are renewable each semester. Students must satisfactorily complete 12 credits each semester with no failing or incomplete grades. A student must also maintain the minimum CGPA as required each semester by the scholarship as per the NYIT catalog upon admission into NYIT. NYIT scholarships and grants are for tuition only, divided equally between fall and spring semesters. They are not applicable to summer session attendance.

Transfer Scholarships

All students who receive this award are eligible for a maximum of three years (six semesters) of continuous full-time undergraduate enrollment at NYIT.

 

A transfer scholarship will be renewed each semester provided the student satisfactorily completes at least 12 credits and maintains the appropriate CGPA with no incomplete or failing grades. The following CGPA is required for the renewal of the transfer scholarship:

PTK Transfer Scholarships


A limited number of $2,000 yearly scholarships are granted to incoming transfer students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa. These students should have earned a minimum of 24 college credits and have maintained a 3.5 GPA. Scholarship application, proof of PTK membership, and an essay are mandatory to be considered. Brett Kaufman Memorial Alumni Scholarship

Created in memory of former NYIT Alumni Federation president Brett Kaufman, this scholarship is available to students sponsored by an NYIT graduate. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to community involvement by submitting an essay entitled "The Importance of Volunteerism," along with recommendation letters from volunteer organizations, personal references, and professional and academic references where applicable. Finalists will be interviewed by the Alumni Scholarship Committee. NYIT scholarships and grants are for tuition only, divided equally between fall and spring semesters. They are not applicable to summer session attendance.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship

Created in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and in recognition of his beliefs, this scholarship is granted to low-income minority undergraduate and graduate students with high levels of academic achievement, leadership ability, and outstanding character.

Application requirements and awards are determined on a semester-by-semester basis. For more information and to request an application, students may contact the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program Office at 212.261.1545.  Interested students can also send an information request via email to heopma@nyit.edu. NYIT scholarships and grants are for tuition only, divided equally between fall and spring semesters. They are not applicable to summer session attendance.

NYIT Academic Scholarship Program

This program recognizes and honors undergraduate students who have demonstrated a commitment to NYIT and have shown consistent academic success after earning 60 or more NYIT credits applicable toward their degree.

The scholarship is awarded to full-time matriculated undergraduate NYIT students who have achieved a CGPA of at least 3.0. Students who qualify will receive the award for a maximum of two years (four semesters). NYIT scholarships and grants are for tuition only, divided equally between fall and spring semesters. They are not applicable to summer session attendance.

Amount of award: $3,000 - $4,000 per year

NYIT Scholarships and Academic Achievement Awards

Entering freshmen may qualify for these awards if they have a high school average of 80 and scored 1000 on the SAT I or at least 21 on the ACT. All students who qualify will receive this scholarship for a maximum of four years (eight semesters) of continuous full-time undergraduate enrollment at NYIT.

All scholarships and grants are renewable each semester. Students must satisfactorily complete 12 credits each semester with no failing or incomplete grades. A student must also maintain the minimum CGPA as required each semester by the scholarship and/or grant as per your catalog upon admission into NYIT. NYIT scholarships and grants are for tuition only, divided equally between fall and spring semesters. They are not applicable to summer session attendance.

Amount of annual award: $10,000 - $13,000 per year

NYIT Grant

This grant is awarded to a limited number of current undergraduate students based upon financial need. Students must complete a FAFSA to be considered.

A student must maintain satisfactory academic progress and be eligible for federal financial aid to be eligible for this grant. NYIT scholarships and grants are for tuition only, divided equally between fall and spring semesters. They are not applicable to summer session attendance.

Graduate Scholar Award (GSA)

The Graduate Scholar Award recognizes the talents of entering graduate students who have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement. Students must have earned a baccalaureate with a 3.3 CGPA; M.B.A. applicants must have a minimum GMAT score of 400. Students entering programs requiring the GRE must have earned a high enough combined score on the verbal and quantitative sections. International students must have a minimum TOEFL score of 550/79 or a 6 on IELTS. All students must be fully accepted without academic conditions. Students must complete a FAFSA to be considered.

This award consists of a $3,000-per-year tuition-only credit for a maximum of three years (six semesters) of continuous full-time enrollment (nine credits). Only applicants who qualify for full matriculation are eligible. Awards will be prorated for students taking less than nine credits. This award applies to Fall and Spring semesters only and is renewable each semester provided that the recipient completes the financial aid process including completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, and maintains a cumulative grade point average of 3.3, with no incompletes. Awards will be renewed on an annual basis to students who maintain a minimum 3.3 CGPA and satisfactorily complete the courses for which they are is registered, with no failing or incomplete grades. NYIT scholarships and grants are for tuition only, divided equally between fall and spring semesters. They are not applicable to summer session attendance.

Alumni Recognition Award

The Alumni Recognition Award acknowledges NYIT's commitment to the professional success of its alumni. This award is offered to students who hold an NYIT bachelor's or master's degree and are fully matriculated in one of NYIT’s graduate degree granting programs. To be considered, all students must complete an application each academic year. This award is only applicable for Fall and Spring semesters. This award consists of a $425 tuition-only credit for every three credits that the student is registered for, up to a maximum of $1,275 per semester.

The Alumni Recognition Award will be allotted on an annual basis for a maximum of three (3) years or six semesters depending on the student meeting all of the following criteria required each semester. The student must maintain a minimum of 3.0 CGPA and satisfactorily complete the classes for which they are registered with no failing or incomplete grades. All students, excluding international students, are required to fill out the FAFSA and be enrolled in at least three (3) credits. NYIT scholarships and grants are for tuition only, divided equally between fall and spring semesters. They are not applicable to summer session attendance.

The deadline for this award is August 15 of each academic year (January 15 for Spring admission). Applications forms are available for download.

Life Science Achievement Award

This scholarship is awarded to students in the occupational therapy and physical therapy dual degree programs. This award bridges the gap between your undergraduate phase and your graduate or professional phase. Only students who are matriculated in the Bachelor of Science in occupational therapy or physical therapy programs are eligible.

Beginning with your first professional phase, this scholarship provides tuition of up to $3,975 per year, including summer, based on full-time attendance for the completion of your undergraduate degree program. To retain this award, students are required to maintain a 3.3 CGPA and satisfactorily complete the classes that they registered for in the previous semester. All students must complete the FAFSA for consideration.
