Solar Panel Installation and Design

This introductory level course is designed for students who have had no prior experience with solar installation (previous electrical experience a plus, but not necessary). Under the supervision of a certified photovoltaic installer instructor, students will learn the basics of Solar Photovoltaic installation and design. This course includes classroom instruction and interactive hands on exercises. At the conclusion of this course, students will have a basic understanding of photovoltaic principles including safety, code compliance, fundamentals of grid systems, design, installation, and maintenance. Instructor will review procedures for applying for tax rebates and incentives for installing solar panels in the home. Courseware included in course fee.
Fundamentals of Welding Technologies
Monday through Friday: Oct. 19 through Oct. 30, 2009

This introductory level course is for those with no formal training in basic welding techniques. The course will cover the importance of safety in the welding shop, how to correctly use MIG and TIG welders, cutters, and a variety of power tools designed for the welder.
At the conclusion of the course, students will have completed a welding project. Previous projects have included: TV stands, small tables, small bookshelves, and decorative sculptures. Students will learn the techniques to enable them to use creativity and add embellishments and designs as appropriate. Safety goggles, masks, gloves, and aprons are provided for use during class. Students should wear appropriate cotton clothing for class (synthetics are not acceptable): long pants, long sleeved shirts, and leather boots or shoes.
New York State Licensure (Class A&B)
Sundays: Nov. 22, 2009 through Jan. 24, 2010

Course # XEDU-005
Fee: $4375 + $15 registration fee
8 hours class safety/permit, 80 hours vehicle training time
This combination class enables you to successfully sit for your written NYS Department of Motor Vehicles permit test, which will provide you with both CDL A and CDL B permits. Once students have successfully completed the permit test, the course will move onto road training. Certified licensed instructors will provide road training so that students will learn how to safely operate combination vehicles: tractor trailers and straight and box trucks.
Please note fees for the permit and road tests are not covered by the course. Students will be responsible for paying the fees directly to the NYS DMV. Vehicles are provided for the road test at no additional fee.
