Biography
Wolfgang Gilliar, D.O., has dedicated most of his life to the advancement of osteopathic medicine. He became dean of New York Institute of Technology's College of Osteopathic Medicine on January 1, 2013. Several months before that, he was named Educator of the Year by the American Osteopathic Foundation.
Gilliar attended the University of Arizona before receiving his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He previously served as the director for several musculoskeletal and rehabiliation centers associated with Tufts University School of Medicine, where he also served as an assistant professor and instructor. From 1997 - 2004, Gilliar was an adjunct assistant clinical professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He was also director and founder of the Osteopathic Manual Medicine Center of California.
Gilliar has been professor and chair of the osteopathic manipulative medicine department at NYIT since 2004. He is credited with overseeing the creation of an educational web-based catalog that includes more than 500 videos for students.
