Biography
Paul Stirpe, Ph.D. is a cyber security advisor in NYIT’s School of Engineering and Computing Sciences. He is the founder of Letse, LLC, a global Software plus Services corporation with offices in New York and Kolkata, India and over ten years of business in Financial Services.
Stirpe obtained his Ph.D. in computer science from Boston University in 1992. He subsequently obtained a position at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Centre in Westchester, N.Y., where he carried-out research in the area of ATM network control, concentrating on multicast connection, group management, and control protocol performance. After six years at IBM Research, he worked at Reuters, in Long Island, N.Y., where he investigated the use of reliable IP multicast protocols for large-scale, realtime, fault tolerant information dissemination, as well as investigated various Internet related technologies including messaging, directory services, Internet security, and content management.
In early 2002, he joined NYIT as a tenured track professor where he led the creation of several new programs including a master’s degree in computer and information security. Furthermore, he provided the technical leadership critical to the obtainment of NSA government grants for the establishment of the Center for Network and Information Security.
Stipe’s organization, Letse, provides business critical, highly available applications to some of the world’s largest and most demanding financial institutions. Letse is a technology partner for premier Wall Street and European banks with international presence, and is a thought leader in cloud computing for the financial services industry. Stirpe leads the security consultancy Stratta Group focused on providing expert security technology advisement and solutions. Stirpe is the chief technology officer of GlobeArc Corporation, a leading provider of business solutions for investors in hedge funds.
Stirpe is the author of numerous patents and research papers in areas such as security, reliable multicast, messaging, workflow, and content management. He frequently appears in appears on television and in print, and has provided security, infrastructure architecture advisement to many billion dollar corporations including Reuters, Credit Suisse, Wolters Kluwer, and Bunge Corporation.
