Biography
Lawrence Herman, R.P.A.-C., M.P.A., D.F.A.A.P.A., has been teaching at NYIT for over a decade. He now coordinates curricula for the physician assistant studies program and oversees admission of students in the program.
Herman is credentialed in the use of conscious sedation in adults and children, and is certified as an advanced cardiac life support instructor and provider; basic cardiac life support provider; and New York State OSHA infection control instructor and provider. He also has OSHA bloodborne pathogen certification, and has received credentialing from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for care of the critically ill child, NYS Radiological Hazard Update, NYS Child Abuse and Neglect Recognition Seminar, and NYS Rape & Sexual Abuse Evidence Collection Seminar.
He currently serves as vice president and medical director of Island Medical Physicians, and teaches at Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Institute. He is active in professional organizations and has also held many pro bono positions, completed human clinical research and grant work, presented at national and international conferences, and is the recipient of numerous awards.
Previously, he was a staff physician assistant at First Choice Medical, Central Suffolk Hospital, Catholic Medical Centers of Brooklyn and Queens, and other offices in New York.
Herman has a master’s degree in public administration on health administration and health system finance from Long Island University, a bachelor’s degree from the physician assistant program at State University of New York at Stony Brook, and was a candidate for an engineering degree from Princeton University.
