Biography
Ernst O. VanBergeijk, Ph.D., M.S.W., heads the Vocational Independence Program(VIP), which enables students with significant learning disabilities to maximize their potential for independence.
VanBergeijk joined NYIT in 2006, with more than 20 years of experience as a social worker in schools, and as a faculty member and researcher in different universities and colleges. Most recently, he was a research associate at Yale University School of Medicine, Child Study Center, and an assistant professor in the School of Social Service at Fordham University. He currently serves as a peer reviewer for Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, Journal of School Psychology, and Child Abuse Review.
VanBergeijk earned his Ph.D. in social work from Columbia University, masters of social work from the University of Michigan, and bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
