Richard Haas: Art and Architecture

February 16, 2017 - April 25, 2017

16 W. 61st St., Gallery 61
Long Island, NY

Haas is known for his stunning New York City wall murals completed in the 1970’s and 1980’s, which helped spark an urban awareness about neighborhood revitalization. Architecture and fine art have always been in conversation. For artist Richard Haas, that conversation has evolved into a full embrace, not just figuratively but quite literally: His murals of buildings actually adorn buildings—the bones of one hosts the flesh of the other.

NYIT Gallery 61’s exhibition, Richard Haas: Work From 1950–2016, manifests that embrace through Haas’ paintings, drawings, and other works on paper dating from the 1950s to the present.

Opening reception is Thursday, February 23, 5 – 7 p.m.

Exhibition will be on view February 16 - April 25, 2017.
