E.1027, Eileen Gray's acclaimed seaside house, was designed in collaboration with Jean Badovici in the 1920s. Several years later Gray (1878-1976) designed Tempe à Pailla, her less known but equally important hillside house for her own use. Drawing from her ongoing research, Jan Greben will explore Gray's shift from collaboration to independence and will focus on the social implications of spatial configuration and economy in Gray's work. Greben will present photographs from visits to the two houses along with archival material, including previously unpublished documents.
