Join the School of Health Professions for presentations and a discussion about transgender health policy and healthcare. Topics include:

  • Transgender Medicine for the Primary Care Provider
    Presenter: Asa Radix, M.D., director of research and education at The Callen Lorde Community Health Center and assistant clinical professor of medicine at New York University.
  • Transgender Health Policy in New York State and Beyond
    Presenter: D’hana Perry, public health researcher, case manager, and video artist.

Conversations in Transgender Health is presented as part of the Dean's Speaker Series at NYIT School of Health Professions.

About our Speakers

ASA RADIX, M.D., is director of research and education at The Callen Lorde Community Health Center in New York and an assistant clinical professor of medicine at New York University. After qualifying in medicine in the West Indies, Radix completed a residency and fellowship training at the University of Connecticut and became board certified in internal medicine and infectious disease. In addition to having a clinical practice, Radix coordinates clinical rotations in LGBT health for medical and nursing trainees and holds faculty positions at New York University and Yale. Radix has presented both nationally and internationally on LGBT issues, published widely in the field of transgender health, and assisted in developing guidelines for transgender health for the World Health Organization, the Pan American health Organization, and The Asia Pacific Transgender Network. Radix is on the editorial boards for the International Journal of Transgenderism and the PRN Notebook and is an associate editor of Transgender Health. Radix is a co-investigator for three studies focusing on PrEP, transgender health, and HIV care.

D’HANA PERRY is a public health researcher, case manager, and video artist with 16 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector, including as an AmeriCorps volunteer, a legislative aide for a state representative, a teacher, and a community organizer. They were a founding member of Make Shift Boston, a co-working art event space located in Boston’s historic South End district. Perry’s video performance work, LOOSE, has been featured at Queer/Art/Film at the IFC Center, Brooklyn Museum, MIT, The Design Studio for Social Intervention, Harvard University, and more. Perry is a member of KUNQ, a music production and art collective. KUNQ artists have taught and performed original work at institutions and events around the world. They also host BURNING BOAT, a bi-weekly mixed-format radio program on The Lot Radio. In 2016, KUNQ was featured in Resident Advisor Magazine, on Rinse FM (UK), and on Boiler Room TV. Perry has a B.A. in Sociology and Urban Studies from Ohio Wesleyan University and an M.F.A. in Media Art from Emerson College.
