We are saddened by the passing of energy management graduate student Chirasak Vidhyarkorn, who died in a noncombat-related incident on Sept. 29, 2007 in Diwaniyah, Iraq, while serving as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Army Spc. Vidhyarkorn, of Bayside, N.Y., served in the army as a water purification specialist and was serving his second tour of duty in Iraq. He received 10 awards, including a Bronze Star, over a seven-year period and was posthumously promoted to sergeant. His commanding officer, Major General William D. Wofford, said, “He was called to serve, and he answered that call. He was a true patriot and will not be forgotten.”
