Multiple formats: Face to Face, Online or  Hybrid at a Teacher Center?

Face-to-face @ NYIT Campus

Courses are offered at the NYIT main campuses either in Old Westbury or Manhattan.

* International students must take courses at an NYIT campus location, not off site nor online.

  • Tuition (2014-2015):
    • Per course $3,300
  • Contact:
  • Pros:
    • Student worker opportunities: You can apply for the student worker positions to waive your tuition.
    • Use of school facilities: You can check out equipment for learning purposes (e.g. iPad, mobile devices, video camcorder, etc.), and reserve labs to use the professional software (e.g. Captivate, Storyline).
    • Establish rapport with advisors: You can meet with your advisor, program chairs and School of Education staff regularly.
    • Access to school resources and facilities: You can use NYIT resources such as reserving the library study room.
    • Learning Community: You can meet with your peer classmates and establish the learning community with them and your advisor.
  • Cons:
    • Lack of flexible schedule: Class meeting time is fixed.
    • Tuition: Tuition is more expensive compared with the online formats and courses offered through NYS Teacher Center partnerships.

Face-to-face/Hybrid @ Teacher Centers

Courses are offered through the following Teacher Centers: Middletown, Rockland , and UFT .

*International students CANNOT take courses at the Teacher Centers.

  • Tuition (2014-2015):
    • UFT ($1,160 per course, plus $50.00 registration fee to UFT)
    • Middletown ($1,160 per course)
    • Rockland ($1,160 per course.)

    • Tuition: Tuition is more affordable than face to face.
    • Establish rapport with advisors: You can meet with your advisor through e-mail, phone, the Zoom meeting tool, or schedule meetings at Teacher Center or make an appointment and travel advisor’s office on NYIT campus.
    • Access to school resources and facilities: Online library resources only.
    • Learning Community: Remote connections through informal communication, Zoom meeting conference tool, and the School of Education Facebook page.
    • Flexibility: Class meeting time is fixed and takes place at local school.
    • Hybrid: Some courses are offered through the online format with students from other areas.
  • Cons:
    • Student worker opportunities: None.
    • Use of school facilities: None.
    • Instructor interaction: Once per week in class. 

Fully Online

You can take fully online courses from anywhere at any time.

  • Tuition (2014-2015):
    • $1,450 per course
  • Contact:
  • Pros:
    • Tuition: Tuition is more affordable than face to face.
    • Establish rapport with advisors: You can meet with your advisors through e-mail and the Zoom meeting tool, or come to campus to meet with your advisor.
    • Learning Community: Meet virtually through the Zoom meeting conference tool, interact with fellow students in Blackboard courses, and join the School of Education Facebook page.
    • Flexibility: There is no official class meeting time. You learn at your own pace.
    • Instructor interaction: Faculty log into Blackboard and interact with students at least three times per week.  
  • Cons:
    • Student worker opportunities: None.
    • Use of school facilities: None.
    • Access to school resources and facilities: None.

  • New York State certified teachers who live in New York City: Face-to-face @ UFT Teacher Centers.
  • New York State certified teachers who live upstate: Face-to-face @ Middletown or Rockland Teacher Centers
  • New York City or Long Island residents: Face-to-face @ NYIT Campus or Online
  • U.S. residents: Online
  • International students: Face-to-face @ NYIT Campus and anyone in NYC or Long Island area who prefer face to face instruction.
