Areas of Expertise

Dr. Dahir consults extensively with state departments of education, school systems, school counselor associations, and national and international organizations on developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive school counseling programs.  She is a past president of the New York State School Counselor Association, served on the governing boards for the American School Counselor Association and the National Career Development Association and as the project director for both the American School Counselor Association’s National Standards development and Planning for Life.  Her research, publishing, and presentation agenda includes:  school counselor accountability, comprehensive school counseling programs, principal-counselor relationships, social justice and equity, cultural competence, and continuous improvement for school counselors.
