Summer workshopsfor cohort 1 and cohort 2

The Cyber-enabled Learning Program, led by Drs. Shiang-Kwei Wang and Hui-Yin Hsu of the School of Education and Dr. Lisa Runco of the College of Arts and Sciences, kicked-off their first summer workshop for the Cohort 2 science teachers at the NYIT Manhattan Campus.  From July 16th to July 26th, 17 middle school science teachers from Manhattan participated in the workshop.  Drs. Wang, Hsu and Runco also held a two-week workshop for the Cohort 1 science teachers at the NYIT Old Westbury Campus this summer.  These workshops prepared science teachers to use ICTs and Cyber databases to conduct scientific inquiry projects.

Cohort 1 teachers used Google Earth and cyber databases to support their scientific inquiry in learning evolution of various species.

The workshop for cohort 2 teachers was conducted at the NYIT Manhattan campus.

Cohort 2 teachers used probeware and iPad to collect water quality data in Central Park.
