Information session for seed teachers

The seed teachers are invited to join the information session. The information session will cover the purpose of the research project, the study procedure, data collection timeline, and topics of the four professional development modules.

The team met with the teacher leaders on Dec. 11 2010.

The team met with the teacher leaders on Dec. 11 2010. We briefly discussed the purpose of the project, the teacher leaders' role, potential professional development modules, and most importantly, the effort to bridge the gap between students' informal technology use outside of schools, and teachers' skills to integrate technology in the classrooms. Our goal is to prepare teachers to be able to adopt ICTs to improve students' scientific literacy by designing inquiry based learning activities, and cultivate their new literacies skills. The meeting was a great success. Both sides learn a lot more about each other.

The NYIT site teacher leaders are on board.

The NYIT site teacher leaders are on board. They will start working with the team since December 2010. We have the honor to invite Elly Haber from Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Academy, Cindy Roter from Queens School of Inquiry, and Jean Rogers from Locust Valley Middle School. They will work with teacher leaders from Utah State to align the activities with the standards, test the learning activities, and provide suggestions to the PD implementation. Thank you all!
