Faculty participation is vital to the success of NYIT's commencement. Your presence on the stage is an important part of the ceremony and means a great deal to the graduates. Please review the entire Commencement site so you do not miss important information about your participation and please browse all the other categories to assist you in effectively communicating this information to graduates.

Faculty Arrival and Line-up

Faculty should arrive on campus by 8 a.m. and report immediately to the Faculty Lounge (gymnasium) for assembly and cap and gown pick-up.

Cap and Gown

If you have your cap and gown on permanent loan, please bring it with you on Commencement day. If you are a tenured faculty member and do not already have permanent loan regalia, please contact the Office of Special Events via e-mail at events@nyit.edu.  If you are not a tenured faculty member, please arrive on Commencement day to the faculty lounge and regalia will be provided to you on loan for the day. You do not need to do anything in advance.

Parking

Parking is limited on campus. Please arrive early and park in the following lots: Wisser Library, 500 Building, Tower/Gerry House, and Salten Hall. You will be emailed a parking permit to print out for your car, approximately two weeks before the event. This parking permit MUST be displayed on your dashboard, so event security will permit you access to the faculty lots.

Faculty Lounge

The faculty lounge will be located in the gymnasium and will be open from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. The lounge will offer breakfast in the morning and lunch once the school graduations have concluded. There are also nearby restrooms in the locker rooms. Please arrive early and allow yourself time to park and visit the faculty lounge.

Security/Access to Old Westbury Campus Offices and Buildings

Please be advised that all offices and buildings on campus will be locked on May 19 except for the Student Activity Center and Sports Complex. Faculty will not be able to access their offices or any buildings; accordingly, if you own your own regalia, please bring it with you.
