During your freshman year (less than 31 credits), you need to focus on career awareness and self assessment via:
Office of Career Services Resources
- Identify personal interests, skills, and values with FOCUSOnline.
- Meet with an advisor to discuss career decisions and strategies, and how to develop your resume.
- Attend seminars and workshops on a variety of industry and career-related topics.

Academics
- Meet with a faculty advisor to discuss career options. For more information, contact the Central Advising Center.
- Use on-campus academic resources such as the Learning Center and libraries.
Extracurricular Activities
- Meet and network with classmates in your major.
- Attend NYIT conferences and events that feature industry leaders.
- Start your career development and even gain leaderships skills by joining one of NYIT's many clubs.
- Obtain a summer job or internship--the Office of Career Services has lots of listings.
