Last summer, the Community Service Center in Manhattan and students in the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) welcomed members of the International YMCA Youth Ambassadors Program (YAP) to NYIT's Manhattan campus. They all participated in a cultural exchange series called "Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges" - a three-part session that brought together youth leaders from Haiti, Ecuador, Colombia, and India, and NYIT HEOP students for lively discussion, community building, and stereotype de-bunking. HEOP student Lakisha Scott said "I enjoyed my time getting to know all of the International YMCA YAP participants. If you judge people, you have no time to love them."
