Eric D. Nelson (B.F.A. ’82)

Position: Director of production for the NBA’s Indiana Pacers (his eighth season)

Claims to Fame: Eric has worked as an editor on many television shows, including Dateline NBC, The Today Show, McNeil-Lehrer, Barbara Walters Specials, the 1998 Goodwill Games, and the 1996 Olympics.

Noteworthy Award: 1996 National Sports Emmy for online editing of the Centennial Olympic Games on NBC.

Best Career Move: “I’ve gained professional recognition from every job I’ve had, but my most influential work was the Olympics. It opened several doors for me.”

Work Philosophy: “It has to be fun.”

NYIT's Impact: “A big part of making it in this business is knowing the right contacts. My professors who worked in the field helped me get internships. Also, working in the NYIT video lab gave me an idea of what it would be like to work in the industry.”

Family: “I met my wife, Ann Marie Nelson (D.O. ’99), after I graduated. She is an osteopathic physician who graduated from NYCOM. I also have three children, Lauren, Jeremy, and Andrew.”
