Old Westbury offers the best of both worlds – a quiet atmosphere yet just 20 miles from the heart of New York City. Long Island's picturesque North Shore, local shopping and entertainment offerings, regional theaters and museums, the fine restaurants of Nassau County, South Shore beaches, and an array of outdoor activities are all just minutes away from the Old Westbury campus, a unique and spectacular setting all its own.
Some of the world's best public beaches and parks are located on Long Island and are perfect for swimming, boating, fishing or simply relaxing and enjoying spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Cantiague Park, Eisenhower Park and the Fire Island National Seashore, all offer a variety of walks, picnic areas and trails for hiking and mountain biking.
Just minutes from the Old Westbury campus, you’ll find the Broadway Mall, which comprises nearly 100 stores, boutiques, service providers and eateries. It is also home to a state-of-the-art 12 screen Multiplex Cinema, which features the latest movies and a variety of refreshments. A drive a bit further south into Garden City will bring you to the Roosevelt Field Mall - among the largest shopping malls in America. Roosevelt Field is home to more than 245 specialty stores.
NYIT provides an additional shuttle bus from the residence halls to the Broadway Mall and Hicksville train station for your convenience (pick up a schedule when you move in).
