Recreational Sports

NYIT’s Manhattan campus offers a variety of recreational sports to get involved in. All students are invited to join a league and help NYIT compete against teams from all over New York City. If you’re interested in playing or would like more information, please e-mail recsportsnyc@nyit.edu. Students on the Manhattan campus also have the opportunity to join the West Side YMCA.

Sports at Manhattan:

  • The softball team participates in the Zogsports league during the fall and summer seasons, playing games at fields throughout Manhattan. Teams play 10 on 10 with at least four women on the field. The current team’s philanthropy is the American Brain Tumor Association. If you would like to join the softball team, e-mail recsportsnyc@nyit.edu, or visit the league's homepage.

  • Touch football is brand new to our list of club sports and will be participating in the Zogsports league. Teams play 8 on 8 with at least three women on the field. The game will be no contact and two-hand touch. If you would like to join the co-ed touch football team, e-mail recsportsnyc@nyit.edu, or visit the league's homepage.

  • The divisional champion volleyball team participates in the New York Urban Professionals co-ed volleyball league. Teams play 6 on 6 with at least two women on the court during 10 games a season.   • The dodgeball team participates in the Zogsports league and is the current champion of its division. Teams play 6 on 6 with at least two women on the court. The dodgeball team competes in fall, winter, and spring leagues with games typically taking place Monday-Thursday nights. The current team’s philanthropy is the American Heart Association.   • The men’s basketball team competes in a number of leagues throughout the city, including the Vanderbilt YMCA and Basketball City leagues. The team has won a number of championships and competes in fall, winter, and spring leagues.   • The men’s soccer team competes in a variety of leagues throughout the city during the fall and spring seasons. If you would like to join the soccer team, e-mail recsportsnyc@nyit.edu, or visit the league's homepage.

  • The women’s soccer team plays weekly in an indoor recreational league at Chelsea Piers. The team consists of five players on the field, including a goalie, with a maximum of 15 roster spots.
