Motion Capture Workshop: NYIT Collaborates with Oxford Brooks, UK  Time: 10:00am-4:00pm

In this exciting all-day workshop, NYIT Fine Arts hosts a motion capture workshop for students and faculty from NYIT Department of Interior Design and Oxford Brooks from the UK.
The workshop is scheduled for September 19th at the Old Westbury campus Art Media Lab, in Midge Karr Art Center, and will run from 10am-4pm.

This experimental workshop will cover the following topics:

- Demonstrate Motion Capture technologies at NYIT Fine Arts
- Present options for how mocap and 3d printing can work together using 3D scanning technology
- Introduce programming/kinect integration with Motion Capture
- Generate data that is usable for 3D printing using RP machines

All NYIT Faculty and Students are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.

This workshop is part of a semester-long international collaboration between NYIT and Oxford Brooks as they build various architecture and design installation projects in the USA and UK. The project will take place on the cloud, in
the lab and on site - in both the United Kingdom and the United States.

The key dates of the project are as follows:

● September 19th: Motion Capture workshop at NYIT
● September 23rd: Cloud based collaboration kickoff
● October 14th - 24th: All participants meet in London for UK project kickoff. The project
involves a designing-by-making Live-Work intervention Live Project within a
post-industrial site in London. Studios in Oxford as well as London. Public launch on
Oct 24th in London.
● October 25th-30th USA leg of collaboration: Motion Capture and Laser Scanning
Workshops with a public presentation at Archtober event on October 30th
● October 30th to November 6th - Workshop conclusion USA

In this session, NSF program officer Chris Hoadley will describe funding opportunities at the National Science Foundation for research on and with educational technology, with a particular focus on the cyberlearning and future learning technologies program and other programs for educational research. Additionally, tips and advice for submitting proposals to NSF will be discussed. This workshop will be in an interactive format with opportunities to find potential collaborators and to ask questions about submitting.
