NSF Grant Opportunities and Trends in Cyberlearning and Educational Technology


Presenter: Dr. Christopher Hoadley, Program Director, National Science Foundation


Description:


In this session, NSF program officer Chris Hoadley will describe funding opportunities at the National Science Foundation for research on and with educational technology, with a particular focus on the cyberlearning and future learning technologies program and other programs for educational research. Additionally, tips and advice for submitting proposals to NSF will be discussed. This workshop will be in an interactive format with opportunities to find potential collaborators and to ask questions about submitting.

The Non Profit Fair is is a great opportunity to connect with students from our New York campuses who can meet your non-profit organization's needs. With over 110 undergraduate programs and 19 graduate programs, NYIT provides you a diverse talent pool. Registration and set-up 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Lunch provided. Cynthia Leibrock, Universal Design  Time: 6:30 p.m.

Please join Judith DiMaio, dean of the School of Architecture and Design for a lecture and presentation by Cynthia Leibrock, MA, ASID, Hon. IIDA. Ms. Leibrock is an award winning author, an international lecturer, and a designer with over thirty years of experience. Her mission is to improve the lives of older and disabled people through design. She is the principal/founder of EASY ACCESS TO HEALTH, LLC located in Livermore, Colorado. Prominent projects include The Betty Ford Center, the UCLA Medical Center, automotive interior design for Toyota, and a universal design exhibit for the Smithsonian (with Julia Child). For the last ten years she has taught courses in the architecture department at The Harvard University Graduate School of Design and has conducted healthcare design research in Scandinavia, Northern Europe and Japan.

Her publications include Design Details for Health, Beautiful Barrier Free: A Visual Guide to Accessibility, and Beautiful Universal Design, co-authored with James Evan Terry. Because of her work, she has twice been awarded the Polsky Prize for literature.

Worlds of City Vision  Time: 6:30 p.m. (October 2nd & 10th)

Please join Judith DiMaio, dean of the School of Architecture and Design and Mathew Ford, Ilja Burchard and Joshua Mackley for a presentation and exhibition at Gallery 61. Cityvision is a multi-disciplinary studio and think-tank that operates internationally in the fields of architecture, design and urban design. They are based in Rome, Italy with a satellite office in New York City. They have three main outlets that they use to inspire and energize architects and designers worldwide: a MAGAZINE, in print and digital format, that studies the current trends and topics of contemporary architecture and design; PROJECTS including lectures, installations, and events on local and global design issues; and an annual COMPETITION that challenges architects, designers, and students to develop visionary urban proposals connecting the historic, present, and future of the city.
