Student Support Services

Office of Disability Services assists students in locating tutors, readers, note takers, sign language interpreters, and CART services. We also assist with audio taping, copying, and enlarging of exams and other course materials. In addition, workshops and seminars are offered on various topics such as self advocacy, study and test-taking sills, and other resources.

Test Proctoring

The office proctors exams for students who need extra time, a distraction- and interruption-free environment, and/or assistance in reading questions and/or writing answers due to a disability. Procedures have been set up for the provision of this service to ensure both the student’s right to reasonable accommodations and the integrity of the exam process.

Support Groups

Students with disabilities are encouraged to participate in ongoing support groups that meet on a weekly basis. Support groups that run throughout each semester provide students with the opportunity to share and interact with others who have had similar challenges, concerns, and past experiences. Through these groups, students develop self esteem, skills, the confidence to express themselves, and a sense of belonging, as well as a valuable network of peers and very often long-term friends.
