Sleepover at NYIT: Students Participate in All-Night Hack-a-Thon

Calling all NYIT hackers! Students at the Manhattan and Abu Dhabi campuses will participate in the International Association of Transportation Regulators (IATR) first-ever 24-hour Hack-a-thon for Transportation Data. It is also the first time NYIT will host a 24-hour hack-a-thon.
The hack-a-thon begins Friday, September 23, at 2 p.m. (EST) and takes place during the 29th annual IATR Conference in San Francisco. Four locations will host participants: the library at NYIT-Manhattan, NYIT-Abu Dhabi, the Hilton San Francisco, and Purdue University.
Student registration is open through Wednesday, September 21. Competing teams and individuals from NYIT, CUNY, the University of California-Berkeley, and Purdue, among others, will analyze data sets to propose ideas, including new apps and software solutions, that promote shared mobility and multi-modal integration; enhance equity in transportation services for disabled passengers and underserved communities; and/or increase vehicle safety or reduce motor vehicle crashes.
The winner (or winners) will receive an all-expense paid trip to Austin, Texas, to further develop solutions and present them to the IATR at its 30th Annual Conference. Cash prizes and internships may also be available.
