NYIT and NUPT To Co-Host Teaching and Learning Conference in China

Experts from the fields of instructional technology, distance education, and curriculum development will gather for “MOOCs and Beyond: Teaching and Learning with Technology 2015+” on May 28-29 at the Sofitel Galaxy in Nanjing, China. New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NUPT) are co-hosting the conference, which is free and open to the public.

MOOCs, or massive open online courses, have gained notice throughout the world as potentially disruptive forces in higher education. Many educators see MOOCs and other online resources as tools to help institutions teach more effectively while also reducing costs. The experts at this conference will explore various possibilities for technological contributions to teaching and learning.

The conference will offer simultaneous English-Chinese translation and feature addresses by:

  • NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., who has led innovations in global higher education since 2000.
  • Paul Kim, Ph.D., chief technology officer and assistant dean of the School of Education at Stanford University, who is the author of Massive Open Online Courses: The MOOC Revolution.
  • Clay Shirky, who holds a joint faculty appointment at New York University and is the author of Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing Without Organizations.
