Social Media User's Guide for March

March 4, 2016

Womens History Month

No editorial calendar is complete without a list of both real and obscure holidays and celebrations. These occasions offer a fun way to connect with your audience on social media channels. February's list includes cultural, presidential, and scholarly (read: geek chic) milestones. And remember: March is Women's History Month.

  • Friday, March 4: March Forth and Do Something Day
  • Sunday, March 6: Gabriel Garcia Marquez's posthumous birthday and National Dentist's Day
  • Tuesday, March 8: International Women's Day
  • Saturday, March 12: Plant a Flower Day
  • Sunday, March 13: Daylight Savings Day
  • Monday, March 14: Pi Day
  • Tuesday, March 15: Ides of March
  • Wednesday, March 16: Freedom of Information Day
  • Thursday, March 17: St. Patrick's Day
  • Friday, March 25: Tolkien Reading Day
  • Sunday, March 27: Easter
  • Wednesday, March 30: Take a Walk in the Park Day
  • Thursday, March 31: Bunsen Burner Day

TIP: In addition to these ideas, I suggest asking professors about any important dates relevant to their fields and specific expertise. They may be able to "guest comment" on these happenings via your social posts.
