News Byte: NYITCOM Tops “Diverse Issues in Higher Education” Health Sciences Rankings

December 1, 2022

Each year, Diverse: Issues in Higher Education publishes lists of the top 100 producers of degrees, including at the doctoral level, awarded to minority students. The November 24 issue featured rankings for degrees awarded in the health sciences; based on 2020-2021 academic year data, NYITCOM topped the list for colleges of osteopathic medicine.

“This outstanding news further recognizes that New York Tech is one of the most diverse universities in America. We should all be proud that New York Tech is a welcoming institution with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion for students of all backgrounds, cultures, races, and genders,” said New York Tech President Hank Foley, Ph.D.

The data for the top 100 annual analysis come from the “Completions Survey” of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System collected by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics. Race and ethnicity are self-reported by students.
